Choosing Less is Better
Intentional living, motherhood, and how changing seasons reshaped the way I photograph love
Like so many people right now, the rising cost of living in Australia has quietly but profoundly changed the way I move through the world.
At first, it was practical — looking for money‑saving habits, cutting back where I could, and making more conscious financial choices. But somewhere along the way, something shifted. What began as budgeting slowly evolved into a much deeper way of living.
I’m raising two girls, and more than anything, I want them to grow up understanding that value doesn’t come from excess. That you don’t need more — you need better. Better quality, better choices, and more intention behind how you spend your money and your time.
We talk about this often in our home. Buying less, but choosing well. Caring for what we already own. Understanding the difference between what looks impressive and what actually lasts. These are lessons about finances, yes — but also about confidence, sustainability, and self‑worth.
Unexpectedly, this mindset has brought more joy into our lives, not less.
Less waste. Fewer rushed decisions. More presence.
How Intentional Living Shaped My Work as a Photographer
This way of living has naturally woven itself into my work as a wedding and elopement photographer.
I’ve always been drawn to intimate weddings and elopements — celebrations that are thoughtful, personal, and deeply meaningful. Days that don’t revolve around tradition for tradition’s sake, but around connection, experience, and presence.
I see it time and time again, especially with modern couples planning weddings in Sydney and beyond: fewer guests, extraordinary locations, and carefully chosen details that feel timeless rather than trend‑driven.
A quiet ceremony. A sunset. A bottle of beautiful French champagne shared slowly, simply because it feels right.
To me, that is luxury.
Not excess.
Not scale.
But intention.
Elopements, Intimate Weddings, and Meaningful Luxury
This philosophy now sits at the heart of the elopement and intimate wedding experiences I offer.
My elopement photography packages include guidance and inspiration drawn from this way of living — helping couples create wedding days that feel elevated, effortless, and aligned with who they truly are. Celebrations that prioritise experience over performance, and meaning over obligation.
For couples who value quality, connection, and beauty without waste or overwhelm.
For savvy couples who want all the wedding feels — refined, intentional, and deeply personal.
Teaching the Next Generation What Matters
Learning to live with intention hasn’t limited my world, it’s honestly expanded it.
It’s a lesson I’m grateful to be passing on to my daughters, and one I’m honoured to share with the couples who invite me into some of the most meaningful days of their lives.
Because choosing less, but better, makes room for what truly matters.
